So if you want to change that part as well, read on! Yeah, well… This isn’t exactly all that significant, but if you’re still running some XP / XP 圆4 boxes and like to run them with the classic GDI GUI (Windows 2000 style) like me, the Winlogon screen would remain in the default Luna style with its plasticky blue borders. This documents how to safely change the GUI framework as well as the banner for Winlogon, as well as the “Logging off” / “Shutting down” / “Logging in” popups. However, Windows 2000 and Server 2003 have not been tested. This will very likely also apply to Windows Server 2003 and maybe all varieties of Windows 2000, to a certain degree. So here comes a documentation about how to change the classic Winlogon screen for Windows XP & XP 圆4. And some information as seen online can even be misleading, suboptimal, or sometimes outright harmful. All the information here can easily be found on the web today, but never all in one place, even though it’s essentially all about the same thing. I’m mostly posting this to document it for myself, but maybe somebody else is interested in it as well.
